Hey, guys! We'll meet at Matt and Jill's house for group on Tuesday at 6:30. Please bring your own dinner, we'll have some cookies for dessert. Girls read chapter 2, guys read 2-3. There are some discussion questions at the bottom of this post for the girls from the workbook.

Also, I spoke with Habitat for Humanity. They have a build coming up in June in Centerton! We are scheduled to help with construction on Saturday, June 5th!!
If this date does not work for a lot of people I can cancel it so please let me know what you think!

Bowling and Books

This Tuesday, February 16th, at 6:30 we'll have some fun at the Bentonville bowling alley! Eat before you come or grab some dinner there. The bowling alley is on North Walton Blvd. on the way to Bella Vista. Even if you don't want to bowl, please come by to hang out!!

This semester we will be studying "Every Man's Marriage" and "Every Woman's Marriage". We will start this series on Tuesday, February 23rd. We will meet at 6:30 at Matt and Jill's house for dinner (pizza!) and will split up to Chris and Melissa's house if we've got too many people for discussion. Please try to get the book before you come, but if can't get it by then don't worry about it, we can read the questions at group! What a blessing it will be to strengthen our marriages and become better spouses together with such a great group of people!

What an exciting year this will be!! Next week we will meet at James and Stephanie's house for dinner (bring your own or eat before you come), then split up and study the lesson. Please see address below. The lesson will be Lesson 9, The Dangers of Pride (James 4:11-17).

Here are the ideas mentioned in group about what we could study this year. After next week's lesson we will vote and decide what we will do this semester. Try to pick just one, or come with an idea on how to combine two. No, you will not hurt any one's feelings.

1) Talk about what the sermon was from Sunday and how it applies to our lives

2) Spiritual gift (analysis and application)

3) Spiritual disciplines and how to actually DO them

4) Study marriage in scripture

5) Read a book, such as Abba's Child, or one that Desiree mentioned Every Man/Woman's Marriage

We can also make it a priority to pursue spiritual mentors, do a service project monthly, and share about our personal lives and spiritual journeys with each other in group.

Also, the church really wants us to get involved with a community service project. I am thinking of maybe helping with a local soup kitchen or an organization called Rebuilding Together, which helps elderly and poor families fix up their homes. Please let us know if you like one of these ideas or if you have any ideas of your own! Let's try to do something either on our next off week or a Saturday in November.

This Tuesday we will get started on lesson one of James! After we eat, we will split up and half of us will head over to Mike and Amber's house for the lesson.

Mike and Amber have offered to bring dinner each week. The meals that they bring will be simple and inexpensive, just $3 a person ($6 per couple). This week they will be bringing beef, bean, and cheese burritos with chips and salsa from the Walmart Cafe. If you want to eat before you come, or can't make it to group, please post a comment so they will bring less food! We are so thankful that they have taken this on to make Tuesday dinner stress free and cheap! Please bring a beverage if you want something other than water and of course you can bring any other side items you would want with your burrito.

ok, since we are speed this bad boy along, kevin and i just sat down with each other's books and picked out what we thought WE needed prayer on and went with those chapters. does that make sense? so kev picked what the girls are reading, and i the guys. made sense to us.
so 4 chapters a week[but you know how short they are] for 2 more weeks and we'll call it done:-)

guys need chapters 7) her submission, 9) her priorities, 10) her beauty, 11) her sexuality

Also, we decided last week to do The Power of a Praying Wife/Husband as our next study. Kevin and Kelly will be leading and posting about what we need to read to prepare for the lesson. Please try to get the books soon, we will start the new lesson next week, April 7.

We are so excited about it and know that God is going to do some awesome things in our marriages as we seek Him in prayer these next 8 weeks.

Hey everyone! I hope you all enjoyed the guest speakers last week. I know that I really enjoyed hearing about Roca's plans and current needs. For those of you that were not able to make it, Murray and Melodee shared their hearts on Roca Blanca (http://www.rocablanca.org/). Check it out if interested...

Anyways, at the very end of group last week I suggested that we wrap up the topic of missions and begin to discuss what we want to do next. This seems to be great timing as the core message of the book is understood, we had a guest speaker on missions, and now Stephanie will be going to Africa on Thursday! Let's be sure to pray for Stephanie as a lifegroup on Tuesday night and lift up her work to God.

So....for preparation Tuesday, feel free to read as much (or as little) of the remainder of the book as you would like. I hope that the book did challenge your mindset and open your eyes up to a new perspective (I know it really did refresh my thinking as well). Be thinking about what we would like to learn as a group for coming weeks.

Lastly....FOOD. Kevin and Kelly are going to bring pizza from Eureka. If each person can chip in $4 that should cover the costs (we'll do a final calculation Tuesday). See you all then!

Hello, church family! This week we will cover chapters 11, 12 & 13. Also, we will just be eating rice for dinner. Hopefully this will put us in a new mindset, allowing us to appreciate the wonderful food we are blessed with every day. We will also be more aware of how much money we can save when we don't have a buffet for dinner. Matt and I normally would spend about $3-8 for our part of dinner so that's how much we will save on Tuesday. We will either bring the $3-8 on Tuesday to combine with other couple's savings to donate somewhere (Monica's uncle in Colorado, the Bible translating organization, etc.), keep it and consider it money that we saved, or add it to a donation going to one of the organizations that we support as a couple. Please pray about what the rice dinner means to you and your spouse and act on what you feel lead to do.

The Malouf's are providing the rice and we will have water to drink.

Hey Everyone! Happy Valentine's Day! I hope you are all having a great day so far and having fun with your spouses.

I wanted to go ahead and post for Tuesday to make sure everybody has time to read. Next week (17th) we will be covering four whole chapters (chapters 7, 8, 9 and 10). I am going to become not-so-popular if I keep assigning so much reading, but it is only 30 pages....we can make it. Many of you have already read that far anyways. Right?

Hi, everyone! This Tuesday we will not cover the reading. Instead, we will have Melodee and Murray Papke coming to share with us why missions is important and how to make it a part of our lives. They have been partnering with Roca Blanca Mission Base for several years. You can check out the website at www.rocablanca.org. It tells how many people speak the different languages and where they are located. It's really neat if you get the chance to look at it.

Wycliffe is the organization that is working on translating the Bible in different languages. Really cool.

We talked about it during time last week, but just in case you didn't know, tomorrow we are doing a "Bring Your Own Food (and drinks)" dinner. That means you should either swing by some fast food or bring something from your house.

No need to bring any more than you can eat and drink...everyone should provide for themselves tomorrow. Look forward to seeing you guys!

Chapter 1 was all about our overall ignorance to the spiritual realm. As Americans, we hear stories about demons being cast out and witchcraft being used to control entire towns, but it is hard for us to imagine. However, just because we don't see it (in that form) in America does not mean that it doesn't exist. Also, we talked about how it would be wise for us to evaluate our current environment. Here I gave the example of a frog in a pot of water. If heated gradually, the frog will die in the boiling water. If the frog is dropped into boiling water, it will immediately jump out and be ok.

Challenge 1: What is our environment like around us? Is it getting dangerous without us being aware of it? Evaluate your environment and make sure it is healthy.

Chapter 2 is all about passion for Christ and a greater cause. We all desire for a more Christ-centered life with total abandonment for Him. However, the reality is that this is more difficult than it sounds. K.P. was willing to stand on a rock to tell the Good News of Christ. While we will likely NOT do this, what is something we can do that may seem extreem to the world? Also, we talked about seeing others as Christ sees them (p.27)...loving despite imperfections and sins.

Challenge 2: Do one thing that may seem extreem that would benefit your spiritual life, marriage, witness to others, etc. This could be something as simple as getting rid of Facebook or signing up for Internet accountability software (covenanteyes.com)...my examples.

Chapter 3 was about diligence and floods of blessings....AND Marriage (depending on your takeaways). Trust in God to provide and watch how God answers our prayers.

Challenge 3: Write down one sentence about the single most important thing your life should be focused on. Share this with your spouse.

Hope everyone had a good thanksgiving celebrating with your families! We are looking forward to our upcoming ugly Christmas sweater party...hope everyone is looking hard for some ugliness!!
Tomorrow night we are having a guy/girl split night. Guys will meet at the Schilbs house at 6:30 like normal. Jill is making a spaghetti bake for the guys. Girls will meet at the Wheelocks house at 6:30 for some Christmas cookie baking. I'm going to go to Sam's tomorrow afternoon for supplies, so if there is a recipe you want to make, post it so I can get the ingredients for it! I'm going to make a spaghetti bake too (it was a good idea, Jill!!), but if anyone wants to bring a salad or some veggies, that would be great!
Directions to the Wheelocks house:
Coming from Bella Vista: Take exit 88. It is the highway 72 exit. Go west on highway 72 for about one mile. Central will be on the left hand side. Take a left on Central, and then a right on Paradise Way. We are on the left hand side. We are 205 Paradise Way!
Coming from Centerton: Take 102 east until you reach Moberly. Turn left on Moberly. Go past the David Glass building. Take a right on 5th street, it will be right after the David Glass building. Take a left at the first stop sign, it is Paradise Way. We are at the end of the street on the right hand side. We are 205 Paradise Way. If anyone has questions, my number is 238-5910.

Hi everyone! Hope you all had a good weekend and are excited about this upcoming holiday week!! I know I am excited to only have to work two and a half days!
I know that we said tomorrow night was going to be our off night, but the Schilbs are inviting everyone over for a super fun pizza and game night!! I'm sad to say that we can't make it, but for anybody that can, post that you will be there so they can know how much pizza to order. If you could bring a couple of bucks to cover pizza, that would be much appreciated!
Mark your calendars for Saturday, December 6th! James and I are excited to have everyone over for a very ugly Christmas sweater party! If you don't have an ugly sweater, borrow one or knit one before then...Party time starts at 6 pm. If you need directions, let us know, but I think most everyone has been to our place before!
Hope you guys have fun tomorrow! I'll be jealous of you all eating pizza and having fun while I have to work :( Have a fun Thanksgiving and safe travels to everyone!

Hi all! Sorry to post late again...this past week has been a quick one! Hopefully you all had a good weekend and are ready for this new week. We will be back at the Schilbs tomorrow night for chili night! I will be making the chili and Jill is going to make some baked potatoes. If anyone wants to bring stuff for a chili/potato bar (sour cream, cheese, fritos, etc...) that would be awesome! Drinks and desserts are always welcome too :)
We will be playing what I hope to be a really fun game...It will go over some of the stuff we have been talking about the last couple of months, as well as determine how well you know your spouse....!! It should be a really good time!

Hey all! Hope you're having a good week! We are looking forward to our time tomorrow night to just hang out!! Everyone can meet at Matt and Jill's house to begin with at 6:30. Guys will be hanging out at Buffalo Wild Wings for 40 cent wing night! Girls, we will order pizza and make some halloween-y cookies! Hopefully everyone can be there! OK everyone, sorry we are a little late on posting the assignment. Below is our schedule for the rest of the series. We are looking forward to the next lessons which deal with how we can fix the "Crazy Cycle". There are two funny acronyms C-O-U-P-L-E for guys and C-H-A-I-R-S for girls used in the book to teach us what the other spouse needs. This next lesson guys should read Chapters 8-11 C-O-U and girls Chapters 15-18 C-H-A. We have been praying for all of you and look forward to seeing you on Tuesday at Matt and Jill's house.

Sorry so late to post about this upcoming Tuesday...We are new to the blogging world and still figuring it out!

Hopefully everyone has been able to get a copy of the book, Love and Respect. If you could read the first chapter for Tuesday, that would be helpful for discussion. The first chapter highlights the different needs men and women have to engage in a healthy relationship. After you read the chapter, reflect on your own relationship and see how these principles apply to your own marriage.

We are having a Mexican themed dinner Tuesday night. Monica, Jill, and I will provide the meat, tortillas, and vegetables for tacos. If anyone else would like to pitch in with some side dishes, drinks, or desserts, that would be great!
We look forward to good fellowship and discussion Tuesday!

This semester were studying the book, "Love and Respect" by Dr. Emmerson Eggerichs. You can get a copy fairly cheap on Amazon.com http://www.amazon.com/Love-Respect-Desires-Desperately-Needs/dp/1591451876. You do NOT have to buy the book to come to our life group. We'll post an overview (Cliff Notes Style) on our blog after each meeting.

Also, next Tuesday (7/23) we're going to meet at Matt and Jill's at 6:30 pm for dinner. The dinner is themed "Chinese Cuisine." We would like for everyone to bring something. Please post a reply and let us know what you will bring. Thanks!

Here you will find the latest info about what's happening in your KPC Young Married Couples - North Life Group. The purpose of this group is to help you strengthen your marriage, draw closer to God, and to live in community with each other. The group leaders are James and Stephanie Wheelock, Matt and Jill Schilb, and Ray and Monica Malouf.We will post random facts about them each week to help you get to know them better.

We will meet for the 1st time on Tuesday, September 16th at 6:30 p.m. at Matt and Jill's house. Their address is 500 Asboth, Centerton, AR 72719.

From Hwy 102, turn North on Sienna Dr. (just before Sonic)
Go about 1 - 2 blocks and turn right (east) on Asboth
Drive about 1 -2 blocks - house is on the right
